The Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program offers multiple options for students to engage in the study of aging. The program offers a certificate option to both undergraduate and graduate students; an undergraduate minor; and a Master of Science degree. The program’s online learning format makes these program options ideal for working professionals, those living at a distance, or others who need the flexibility that online certification and degree programs offer.

Excellence. Innovation. Integrity.

The Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program is a university-wide program within the College of Nursing and has awarded over 100 Master of Science degrees and more than 500 certificates since 1973.  The recently added Minor now offers undergraduates the opportunity to layer the study of aging with their chosen major.
Gerontology faculty come from diverse backgrounds including health promotion, human development, sociology, social work, and nursing.  They are affiliated with the Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, the University’s Center on Aging, AGHE and the Gerontological Society of America.

“The Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program prepared me well for a dynamic career in aging. The diversity of the courses and practicum opportunities were applicable to experiences I now encounter in my career. The Gerontology faculty provided personal attention to my academic goals and they helped me succeed in their program with flying colors.” - Angela P, MS
