• Attend online office hours in discussion threads or on the phone.
• Instructors are available in “real” office hours for students on or near campus; for some courses we offer Q&A sessions in a classroom.

Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Physiology

Students can move at a pace appropriate to their personal and professional circumstances, but the program is designed to be completed in 2 years of full time status.

• Average salary for dietitian or nutritionist with an MS degree is $61,000 per year at entry (United States) and $57, 590 in Utah. 
• The career potential for RDs is vast.  Those who work in industry or food service management tend to make over $100,000 per year after obtaining at least 3 years of experience. Those in clinical positions can achieve this level by advancing to management positions (which typically require an MS).  Many dietitians work in private practice, which offers options for increased salary per hour.  Others work in hospital systems with excellent benefits and more modest salaries. To be considered for admission to the program, prospective students must meet the following requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in a health-related field from a regionally-accredited university or college with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of credit work.

Students must also successfully complete requirements for dietetic registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (i.e., RD status) OR successfully complete at least:

• One course in each of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Anatomy or Physiology.
• Two courses in nutrition (one course being Advanced Nutrition)
• Those interested in nutrition for fitness and sport concentration also need one course in exercise physiology.

Prospective students must complete and submit the following:

• Online Application: Complete your application using the Apply Yourself portal.
• Statement of Purpose: 500-1000 words identifying your educational goals and expectations from the program; please be aware that the University's academics policy on plagiarism applies to applicant's statement of purpose.
• Professional Resume: Current resume that displays job responsibilities, relevant experience and education history.
• Two Letters of Recommendation: Written by individuals with either academic or professional knowledge of your capabilities, such as a faculty member, current employer, mentor, or colleague.
• In the Comment Section: List prerequisite courses completed prior to the beginning of the program and indicate you are applying for the MS non-RDN program.
• Graduate Record Exam (GRE): The GRE is encouraged, but not required.
• Official Undergraduate Degree Documentation: Transcripts from all attended institutions uploaded to ApplyYourself.
• Proof of English Language Proficiency: ONLY for students for whom English is not their primary language.
